This environment is part of a video game that, for now, will not be developed. Inspired by a realistic style, my main goal was to convey an atmosphere of mystery and subtle tension, ensuring that the scene would visually adapt to any type of lighting. The game’s narrative was intended to begin during the day and conclude at dawn, which required the environment to stand out in both daytime and nighttime lighting conditions.
All the materials in the scene were sculpted and hand-painted. I chose this approach to ensure consistent visual quality, as using photo textures without access to a large, high-quality library could have resulted in an uneven finish.
For the technical development, I used Blender for sculpting and modeling, Substance Painter and Designer for baking and texturing, and finally Unreal Engine 5 for composition, lighting, and final rendering. This project was a significant challenge, particularly due to the complexity and detail required for the sculptures and ornamentation. However, seeing the final result, I can confidently say that all the effort was worth it.
