This is Bernardo, the protagonist of the video game Ghost Shrine. His design needed to convey a blend of determination, caution, and wisdom, reflecting his central role in the story. As the main character, every detail of his appearance was carefully crafted to emphasize his importance in the narrative.
The technical development of the model included:
Blender: for sculpting, retopology, hair card placement, and UV mapping.
Substance Painter: for baking and texturing.
Unreal Engine 5: for the final rendering.
One of the most challenging aspects of this project was achieving the level of detail required for a protagonist, particularly in designing and placing the hair cards for both the hair and the arm. This meticulous process was essential to capturing the character’s realistic essence and ensuring he visually stood out within the game’s context.
